Where to sell used furniture in Hamburg

Perhaps the time has come, your work contract is up and you’re looking to get rid of all the furniture and appliances you’ve accumulated throughout your time in Hamburg. Maybe you’ve just found the perfect dining room table to complement the ambiance of your house and rather than standing your old table on the side of the road for pick up, you’d rather get some cash for it. Whatever your reason is for wanting to sell your used furniture, you’re in luck. There are so many avenues you can take in order to turn your furniture and appliances into hard, cold cash.

The internet is a great place to advertise. Check out the list below for some viable online options.

Facebook: This is an easy means of advertising. If you’re someone who spends a lot of time on Facebook then use some of this time to upload pictures of your furniture to one of the many groups that are created for people seeking to buy as well as selling used items.

eBay Kleinanzeigen: This is a popular site amongst Germans. You can usually find just about anything as well as sell just about anything here. Post a picture of the item you are wishing to sell, add the price, your phone number (optional), link to your email and you’ll be notified once a potential buyer has shown interest in your product.

Quoka: Upload a picture of your item along with the price and contact information and wait for potential buyers to roll in.

Also consider posting ads in the local newspaper. These ads should be posted in German and thus if you aren’t yet comfortable with the language, ask a colleague or friend for help. It may be smart to include your telephone number in the ad, rather than your email address as it takes less time for someone to pick up the phone and call, than open up their laptop and send an email.

The local grocery store. Grocery stores usually have a bulletin board where people free to pin their ads for potential buyers to see. You have the option of bringing your own ad, with pictures and any other detail you wish to include, or you can use one of their pre-printed forms where you outline the product or products you have for sale and leave your contact information.

Word of mouth. Let your friends and colleagues know that you’re planning on getting rid of your stuff before you hop across the country or move back home, and ask them to spread the word.

Some things go faster than other so it’s best to plan this some time in advance so that you won’t have to sell your quality items for pennies just because you didn’t have enough time to advertise. However trying to sell your furniture for the same price you bought them for may also land you not getting them sold at all. Be fair when setting a price for your products and don’t forget to advertise.
